Esther Duflo
Context
PSL University commissioned us to produce the teaser for Esther Duflo's MOOC: How to Effectively Combat Poverty. Our goal: to distil all the key issues covered in the course into a short video.
Our approach
The subject required a sober presentation, serving the script. We designed a fully animated video whose artistic direction is directly inspired by the course illustrations, to create visual continuity between the teaser and the training. To restore the paper texture of the original illustrations in a digital format, we combined two animation rhythms: a fluid movement for the text, and a jerky movement for the icons and yellow highlighting, which evokes stop motion animation created by hand.
Streamline the speech
Each key term is paired with simple icons and images that underscore essential concepts. This graphic approach guides the viewer's attention without overwhelming the content, while creating a compelling incentive to engage with the course.
